"The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass, it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself." - Henry Miller Words thrill me. I find language magnificent. Linguistics is an incredible world. I've been studying persuasion for over thirty years. If I think about it though, I've been studying the language of persuasion. Aside from mirroring and matching, and physical anchors, persuasion is about words. The Awareness pattern is essential in your persuasion toolbox. Once you hear and understand it, you'll kick yourself and think, 'Why didn't I use this sooner?' Aldous Huxley said: "Every individual is at one the beneficiary and the victim of the linguistic tradition into which he has been born - the beneficiary inasmuch as language gives access to the accumulated records of other people's experience, the victim in so far as it confirms him in the belief that reduced awareness is the only awareness and as it bedevils his sense of reality, so that he is all too apt to take his concepts for data, his words for actual things." This is a phenomenal example of how language can expand our options or reduce our awareness. When we study persuasion--human nature--we maximize the benefit of our linguistic traditions. This is one of my favorite aspects of persuasion and linguistics. And this pattern in particular is one of the most powerful patterns, period. The three words I use most often in this category are: aware, realize and experience. By saying one of these words, you are making the person you are persuading begin the mental process. In essence, you're enticing them to become 'aware', you're enticing them to 'realize' and you're enticing them to 'experience'. These words are important because everything that is said after the word is presupposed to be true. They don't force action (as in "will you do" something) but instead ("are you aware of") and this has a much more powerful impact in persuasion. As you gain skill in being able to use these words powerfully, you might think that someone may respond to the question, "Are you aware of?" by saying "No". I assure you, when done properly, this does not happen. And if it ever did, all you need to say is, "Not yet, huh?" Here's an example: "The more you begin to construct your mind in the ways you'll be using these patterns, the more you'll begin realizing the explosively profitable techniques you are learning. Are you starting to experience the growing awareness of what being involved in with my program brings you as I tell you about it and as you go through it?" Is the awareness of the power of this pattern starting to sink in? I'm not asking you if these patterns have power, I'm presupposing they do. I'm asking, "Are you aware of the power?" This presupposes that if you're not aware, that you need to be. If you are aware, you will state that you are. If you're getting excited about this information, you're ready to learn more about how language can expand your universe. There are several of these patterns that will work for you to persuade the affluent. All you have to do is to take action, learn them, and implement them.

Png a difficult place to help
The influx of Australians trekking the Kokoda Trail in PNG has resulted in an increased awareness of the plight of our closest neighbour. Trekkers arriving in Port Moresby for the first time are struck by the squalor of the settlements surrounding the city, the countless thousands of unemployed people, and the forbidding razor wire wrapped around every house in the city. After spending their first night in a heavily guarded 4-star hotel they catch a charter flight over the Owen Stanley Ranges to the village of Kokoda. As they move from the airfield, which was a key factor in the decision to send troops to Kokoda in July 1942, they are greeted with shouts of ‘Oro! Oro! Oro!’ (Welcome! Welcome! Welcome!) as they climb the plateau towards the village. ‘Kokoda’ is an Orokaiva word meaning ‘place of skulls’. Australia’s first Victoria Cross winner, Private Bruce Kingsbury was buried here. His body was transferred to Bomana War Cemetery after the war. On the north western edge of the plateau is a large generator installed when PNG was governed as a mandated territory by Australia. It has been idle for more than 20 years and the network of power poles connecting houses and administration buildings are derelict and rotting. A large disused concrete tank is a haunting reminder that the village once had a water and sewerage system. As trekkers follow the footsteps of the brave back along the track they come into direct contact with remote village communities. On day 3 they arrive at Templeton’s Crossing which is the boundary between Oro and Central Province. The Orokaiva and Mountain Koiari clans in this area have been converted to the Seventh Day Adventist Church. They stay converted under the watchful eye of local pastors who conduct church services twice daily at 6.00 am and 6.00 pm. Children with angelic voices and swollen bellies sing hymns in perfect harmony. A noticeable aspect of village life is the absence of young men who are either working in distant gardens or have gone down the track to seek better opportunities amongst the bright lights of Moresby. Older men sit around their huts while women care for the village, nurture the young and prepare the meals. Those who venture down to Moresby find there is little work available and are soon reliant on their ‘wan tok’ system for sustenance. Some turn to crime to meet basic needs while others join the fasting growing industry in the country – security! Thousands of uniformed guards with fierce dogs are trucked into the city before dusk each day to stop their own people trying to breach the razor wire fortresses around Moresby. Back in the villages trekkers notice basic Aid projects designed to support subsistence living in remote areas. Water systems, classrooms and medical centres are in various states of repair due to a lack of recurrent funding for maintenance, school/medical supplies and wages. Despite these daily challenges villages are warm, friendly and generous with their offerings of food and assistance to trekkers. The legacy of their ‘fuzzy wuzzy angel forbears is evident to all who trek Kokoda. During their ordeal they establish bonds with local guides who tell them of their daily struggle for survival and of their plans for the future. On return to our affluent society many trekkers want to help but they soon find this is easier said than done. There is no guarantee that clothing parcels, medical supplies, electronic goods or even letters will reach the intended recipient due to the lack of a reliable distribution service to remote villages. Phone, fax and email communications are out of the question. Assistance with educational programs are almost impossible to monitor as school fees are easily misappropriated and students often substituted. This may well be the reason why World Vision does not have a sponsorship program for PNG students! The encouragement of ‘village cooperatives’ should be considered as a means of ensuring benefits gained from the emerging eco-tourism industry are shared for the benefit of all. A ‘Council of Clan Leaders’ from each village could be established to manage the cooperative. Such a system would place the responsibility for the development of the village and the care of its inhabitants in the hands of local leaders Issues which would form part of the charter of a village cooperative would be the establishment and operation of community schools and health centres, support for students identified as suitable for further education in Provincial schools, training of medics and nurses and the maintenance/development of basic village infrastructure. There is no shortage of eco-trekkers who will support educational and health programs if they can be assured that their contribution will not be siphoned off by the person with the key to the village mailbox in Port Moresby or misappropriated by influential ‘wan toks’ in local, Provincial or National Government departments. The establishment of ‘village cooperatives’ would also allay much of the frustration of local landowners who are suspicious that they not be getting their fair share of the benefits generated by the emerging eco-tourism industry. All the economic and social indicators say the colonial system of government inherited by PNG at independence has clearly not worked in the land of a thousand cultures. A reversal of the system whereby local village/tribal communities are empowered through the establishment of village councils may just be the panacea the country needs to attract the support of eco-tourists and well intentioned philanthropists.
Omaha rules how to play omaha poker
: Omaha poker is starting to become almost as popular as Texas Holdem poker in casino poker rooms, online poker sites and live poker tournaments. Omaha poker rules are similar to Texas Holdem rules. In both poker variations the dealers deals community cards, which can be shared by all the players. However, Omaha poker and Texas Holdem poker are different games and they certainly require using different strategy. Omaha poker can be played as fixed limit, no limit or pot limit. In addition, Omaha poker can be played as high or high low split. Here you can find introduction to both Omaha high and Omaha high low rules. Omaha High Rules The play begins with the player to the dealers immediate left who posts the small blind, usually the amount of half of the minimum bet. For example, in a 4/8 dollars limit game, the small blind will be 2 dollars. Then, the player to the left of the small blind posts the big blind, which is the size of the minimum bet, 4 dollars according to this example. After the blinds are posted, the dealer deals each player four face down cards, starting from the small blind and continuing clockwise. The first round of betting begins with the player to the big blind left who can choose between calling, raising or folding. If he chooses to call, he has to place a bet equal to the size of the minimum bet, if he raises, he places a bet double the amount of the minimum bet, and if he chooses to fold, he forfeits his hand. The first round of betting continues until it gets to the player who posted the small blind. If he chooses to call, he can place only half of the minimum bet, which together with the small blind will complete the amount of the minimum bet. Afterwards, the round of betting gets to the big blind who can either raise or check. After the first round of betting is complete, the dealer places three face up cards in the center of the table. These are known as community cards and this stage of the game is called the flop. After the flop, the second round of betting begins with the player to the dealers left. The minimum bet remains 4 dollars. When the second round of betting is done, the dealer places a fourth community card in the center of the casino table, known as the turn. Then, begins another round of betting in which the minimum bet raises to 8 dollars. This round of betting starts with the player to the dealers left. After this betting round, the dealer will place the last community card in the center of the table, which is called the river. The river is followed by the final round of betting with a minimum bet of 8 dollars. After the last round of betting, all the remaining players are exposing their hands, known as the showdown. Each player has to use two cards of his four cards and three of the five community cards to form the highest possible five cards hand. In an Omaha high game, the player whose five card hand is the highest wins the pot. Omaha High Low Rules Omaha high low is played exactly like Omaha high until the showdown. In Omaha high low, the pot is split between two winners: the player who had formed the highest hand and the player who has the best low hand. If none of the players has a qualifying low hand, the player who holds the highest hand wins the entire pot. Omaha high low is also referred to as Omaha 8 or better. It means that in order to qualify as low hand, the hand cannot contain any 8s or cards of higher value. The best possible low hand is called the wheel. A, 2, 3, 4, 5. Ace value can be either high or low and flushes and straights are disregarded. It sometimes occurs in Omaha high low poker game that the pot splits between more than two players. It can also happen that one player, who holds both high and low hands at the same five card poker hand, wins the entire pot.

Michael bush 2007 draft day picks
Michael Bush was born in Louisville, Kentucky on June 16, 1984. Bush is a powerful running back who weighs in at more than 250 pounds, and stands at 6 foot 3 inches tall. He has a rare combination of speed, size, and strength that has made him a force on the football field since his early years. During his high school career Bush was a do it all type player. Throughout his four years he played positions including quarterback, running back, defensive back, defensive end, safety, linebacker, and wide receiver. As a senior at Male High School Bush held down the quarterback position and led his team to the state title. One game in particular stands out in Bush’s high school career. As a senior he matched up against the team of his future teammate at the University of Louisville, Brian Brohm. During this game Bush ran for 116 yards, threw for 468 yards, and accounted for seven touchdowns. In a game that many think is the best ever in the state of Kentucky, Bush’s team came out on top 59-56. After high school Bush took his game to the University of Louisville where he began to play running back once again. The 2005 season was a breakout year for Bush when he ran for 1,143 yards and scored 23 touchdowns. His 23 scores were enough to lead the entire NCAA Division I in scoring. Unfortunately, during the first game of the 2006 season Bush broke his right tibia, and never returned to the field. Before this injury he had scored three touchdowns and tallied 128 yards on the ground. Although Bush only had the chance to showcase his talent for one full season, he definitely left his mark on the program and is looking forward to doing so with future teams as well. After the conclusion of the 2006 season Bush declared himself eligible for the 2007 NFL Draft. He is looking to pick up where he left off before being injured.
Stock alert program satisfies need for speed
Online investing continues to be popular among consumers, due in part to the fact that it meets most Americans' requirements - it's fast, easy and convenient. In fact, according to research conducted by business research firm JupiterResearch, online trading households are expected to grow from 17.3 million in 2005 to 22 million by 2010. With so many companies competing for a piece of that pie, it can be difficult at best for consumers to navigate the ever-changing landscape of online investing. For many, the hardest part is not making that initial stock purchase, but investigating the best (and worst) buys. So, where does one start? Fortunately, with the advent of the Internet, consumers are only a keystroke away from a plethora of information on the good, the bad and the awful. The downside? Users can be so overwhelmed by the amount of data that the task of researching stocks can be daunting. One company is helping Internet investors by making it easier for them to get only the news and stock alerts they want. Centale Inc. (OTC BB: CNTL), based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., is building a "real time" comprehensive news and stock alert application that is keyword-programmable called "Market Fragger." Forbes will be the first to implement this service. The system will allow users to customize financial news by inputting their own search criteria. The information from the search is then delivered directly to the investor's desktop on both PC and Macintosh. Centale also plans to release a wireless application version. This capability can potentially allow the investor to spend less time searching and more time making smart investing decisions. Forbes has approximately 8 million to 10 million visitors per month. While there is no doubt that computerized trading can be faster, cheaper and more convenient than going through a traditional brokerage house, it's important to research your options to determine what's best for you and your portfolio.
